I've been using Oestra, by Inner Balance since July of 2025. I fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. Use PEGGY10 for 10% off your first order.

Medical Disclaimer & 2026 Update: I am a patient sharing my personal journey with Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT). This review is for informational purposes and is not medical advice. Following the February 2026 FDA update regarding HRT labeling and compounding transparency, I have updated this post to reflect my latest labs and clinical discussions with my provider. Always consult a licensed professional before starting any hormone protocol.

Oestra is currently blowing up because it challenges the traditional "patch and pill" model. It’s an all-in-one bioidentical vaginal cream that contains Estradiol, Progesterone, and helps with Testosterone conversion.

Because it’s a "systemic" vaginal cream (meaning it treats the whole body, not just local dryness), women have a lot of questions about how it works compared to traditional HRT.

Is Oestra Safe?

Oestra ingredients include 100 mg of Progesterone and 3 mg of Estradiol. You get both hormones in one product vs. many HRT regimens require two or three prescriptions to get systemic (whole body) benefit. No additional HRT products needed when using Oestra, per Dr. Sarah Daccarett.

I've been using Oestra by Inner Balance since July 2025 and have never looked back. The ease of only one product vs. three and the fact that my sleep has greatly improved has made me a happy user.

Is Oestra Covered by Insurance?

1. The Molecule & Patent Problem (The "Why")

The fundamental reason comes down to what is inside the cream. Oestra uses bioidentical estradiol and progesterone—meaning these molecules perfectly match what a woman's body naturally makes. Because these are naturally occurring substances, big pharmaceutical companies cannot patent the molecules.

2. It’s an All-in-One Custom Compound

Oestra is unique because it combines both estradiol and progesterone into a single, daily-use vaginal cream.  In a traditional pharmacy covered by insurance, a woman would have to buy two separate prescriptions: a commercial estrogen patch or pill, and a separate progesterone pill.

3. It is a Concierge Telehealth Model

When a woman buys Oestra, she isn't just paying for a tub of cream at a pharmacy counter. The monthly subscription fee ($199 for the first 6 months, then dropping to $99) includes an entire care ecosystem:

  • Online doctor consultations.

  • Ongoing medical support and dose tweaking based on symptoms.

  • Direct-to-home shipping.

The Silver Lining to Share: HSA/FSA Eligibility

While insurance will say "no," there is a massive piece of good news for women looking at their options: Oestra is fully HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) eligible.

Because it is a legitimate prescription medication prescribed by a licensed doctor, women can use their pre-tax healthcare dollars to pay for the monthly subscription. If their HSA/FSA card requires a Letter of Medical Necessity, the Inner Balance medical team can easily provide one to ensure those tax-free dollars cover it.

The Takeaway: Insurance doesn't cover Oestra because insurance only plays nice with patented, mass-produced pills from giant drug companies. Oestra skips that entire system to give women a custom, all-in-one natural hormone cream paired with virtual doctor care—which is why it has to be a flat monthly out-of-pocket fee.

Oestra Reviews and Complaints:

When I received my first order of Oestra it came with all the typical prescription documents, but it also included a FAQ that I found very helpful.

Is Oestra third party tested?

Yes! Oestra is third party tested for potency, purity, quality and efficacy.

Why don't you give one hormone at a time?

Oestra is uniquely balanced to raise estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone together, preventing hormone dominance and unwanted side effects. Treating hormones separately often leads to new imbalances.

Will I start bleeding again if I'm postmenopausal?

Possible, especially in the first few months. This is normal as your uterine lining responds to hormones again. Bleeding usually becomes lighter and infrequent within 3-6 months.

Can I use Oestra to skip my period?

Yes. If you have severe periods or conditions like PMDD or endometriosis, you can use Oestra continuously to delay or skip cycles.

Will I still have a period on Oestra?

Most likely. Oestra supports your natural rhythm - it doesn't suppress ovulation or stop your period. Periods are typically lighter an shorter.

Do I need to stop Oestra to have a period?

Yes. Pause for 2-3 days every 28 days to trigger a withdrawal bleed, mimicking your body's natural cycle.

Will Oestra stop ovulation or fertility?

No. Oestra doesn't act like birth control. It supports your cycle and helps prevent estrogen dominance, but you can still ovulate and get pregnant.

Can I use birth control with Oestra?

Yes. Non-oral methods like an IUD are preferred for best results, as oral contraceptives may interfere with Oestra's effects.

Can I take Oestra after a hysterectomy?

Absolutely. Progesterone is essential for more than jus the uterus - it supports your brain, bones, mood muscles skin and more.

Should I apply Oestra while bleeding?

No. It won't absorb well and may prolong bleeding. Wait until bleeding stops before resuming.

My period is late, should I be concerned?

No. Irregular cycles are common in the first 3-6 months. Just stop Oestra every 28 days and allow your body to adjust.

I stopped Oestra but didn't bleed-can I restart?

Yes. Oestra minimizes excess lining and hyperplasia, so it's normal no to bleed every time. Just continue your cycle as usual.

Will I have withdrawal symptoms when I stop Oestra for 2-3 days?

Possibly. You may feel PMS-like symptoms (headache, low energy, insomnia, anxiety), but these typically resolve once you resume Oestra. Bleeding during this time is expected.

Is cramping normal when starting Oestra?

Yes. Cramping is common due to increased blood flow and uterine tone as your hormones rebalance. It usually improves within 14 days. Try Epsom salt baths, iodine, magnesium, or ibuprofen to relieve discomfort.

I'm postmenopausal and having cramping - is this normal?

Yes, though i can feel unsettling after years without periods. Cramping is a healthy uterine response and usually fades within 2 weeks. If it continues or feels too intense, please contact Inner Balance.

Will Oestra help with mood right away?

Yes, many women notice mood improvements - like reduced anxiety, irritability, and insomnia-within the first month. Vaginal dryness often improves early as well. Some mild side effects (like cramping or breast tenderness) may occur but are manageable.

Why are my breasts sore or tender?

Breast tenderness is common and often due to iodine deficiency. Supplementing with iodine typically improves symptoms within a few weeks and supports long-term breast health.

When can I have intimacy after applying the cream?

Wait at least 4 hours after application to ensure full absorption.

Is my Oestra dose custom to me?

Your dose is carefully selected based on your symptoms and history. There's no perfect formula, but we can adjust based on how your body responds. Some women need to go lower at first. others increase after a few months.

How do I transition from my current HRT?

You can switch directly to Oestra the same day you stop your current regiment. If you're using hormone pellets, wait until they've nearly worn off before starting Oestra.

How do I use an applicator?

Many women prefer to apply Oestra with their finger, inserting it into the vaginal canal and spreading any excess to the outer labia and surrounding tissue, which also absorbs well.

Can I fly with Oestra?

Yes! Oestra meets TSA guidelines. Its a cream, a prescription and allowed on carry-on luggage.

Inner Balance Oestra Cream, is it legit?

I felt good on the patch and pill, but my sleep still wasn't where I wanted it so I continued to shop around for HRT. Once I tried Oestra, even on the second evening after I applied the cream, I noticed that I got really sleepy and slept better than I had in a very long time.

Inner Balance also offers a prescription estriol Face Cream as a compliment product to their Oestra cream. Inner Balance is Legit Script Certified, which means your credit card and your data is safe when you do business with them.
