Why Does Menopause Cause Saggy Earlobes?
As estrogen levels decrease during our perimenopause and menopause years, it's a known fact that it decreases our collagen thus our skin begins to show signs of aging. Because earlobes lack bone or muscle support they are the early warning sign that estrogen loss is causing skin changes.
Our skin is an estrogen dependent organ. As we enter our perimenopause and menopause years; for some, the skin is the first sign that things are changing.
How to Fix Stretched Earlobes Without Surgery
If you are looking to "fix" your saggy earlobes, you may fall into one of two camps.
1. Those who want a total body solution (Systemic, whole body HRT)
Those who just want their skin to look better without the systemic commitment (Prescription Estriol Face Creams)
If you are looking for a total body solution that treats everything - hot flashes, bone density, brain fog, and skin elasticity all at once you want to start a Hormone Replacement Regimen.
If you are not ready to go on a full HRT regimen, many of the HRT companies now offer prescription face creams with estriol, which is a weaker form of estrogen. Face creams only treat the skin and are not considered systemic.
Check out my website for some before and after photos of when I started using Estriol Face Creams. Keep in mind, however, that I was also using a systemic HRT regimen at the same time.
Are Your Earrings Hanging Lower? Signs of Menopausal Volume Loss
The Earring Test: Is Your Jewelry Telling You Something About Your Hormones?
For many women, they notice their earrings sagging way before they have a hot flash or skip a period. If you earrings are starting to drop or the piercing hole is starting to look like a slit rather than small dot, you are seeing structural volume loss which is caused by declining estrogen.
Can HRT Fix Saggy Earlobes? Why systemic Estrogen is your Secret Weapon for Skin Thickness
Most Hormone Replacement Therapy products are considered systemic, meaning they treat the whole body. The one exception is vaginal estradiol cream which comes in a low dose and is intended to treat locally, meaning just the vagina and not the whole body.
Using vaginal estradiol cream alone will not improve any of the other menopause symptoms because it's not systemic. If you are looking for whole body improvements of menopause symptoms including saggy earlobes, find an HRT Treatment that is systemic and intended to treat the whole body.
Patches, Pills, gels and specialty products like the Oestra Cream from Inner Balance are systemic. Over time you may see improvements in your ears and their structure and their ability to support a heavy (ier) earring.
Why Menopause Causes Saggy Earlobes (And How to Fix It)
As I think back, my first sign that I was likely in perimenopause was the rage I felt, specifically at my ex-husband. He was a good guy, but at times, I found myself wanting to plot his murder.
The second sign I remember is when my earrings starting to fit different. The beautiful stud earrings that used to sit high and tight against my earlobes, were starting to turn under to where you could hardly even see them. I even tried special earring backs for a while to support those beautiful studs.
It wasn't until I had been on a systemic HRT regimen and also using a prescription estriol face cream, that I really began to notice that my earlobes had gained some of their structure back. They are not like they were when I was twenty years old, but at least now I can wear studs and not feel like a need a special earring backer to ensure they are visible.
My current HRT regimen is the Oestra Cream by Inner Balance. In the past, I've also been on the Estradiol patch + Progesterone Pills + Estradiol Vaginal Cream combo. That three prescription combo worked well, except I still wasn't sleeping as well as I wanted.
Once I switched to Oestra, by Inner Balance, I found that I fell asleep faster and stayed asleep longer and so I've continued to use Oestra for about ten months now. About three months ago, I added the Inner Balance Face cream to my nightly skincare routine and am pretty pleased with the results that I am seeing.
