Midi Health vs. Allara Health

I've tried seven different online Hormone Replacement Therapy providers over the past few years. I became a patient and paid for my care either out of pocket using my HSA credit card or my prescription insurance when I was able.
My experience with Midi Health is personal, as I became a patient, attended a 30 minute 1:1 consultation with one of their HRT clinicians and then used my prescription insurance to pick up my medications at my local pharmacy. I have not been a patient of Allara as of the date of this blog, but I was able to find all I needed to be able to speak to how these two well-known online HRT providers compare.

Will Midi Health or Allara Health accept my medical insurance for Clinical Appointments
Midi Health operates much like a traditional doctor's office, except appointments are via telehealth. The initial appointment will be 30 minutes and could be covered by insurance if your medical insurance is accepted. You'll pay either a co-pay or whatever is your deductible based on where you are in the insurance year. They'll write prescriptions that you can pick up at your local pharmacy using your insurance or a GoodRx coupon code. Expect for them to want to see you two or three additional times through the year for a 20 minute consultation for follow up care and refills on prescriptions.
Your initial appointment will be 15 minutes. This will be used to discuss your history and put together next steps of labs or bloodwork that might be needed. Your second appointment will typically be 30 minutes and this where you'll learn the care plan they have put together for you. Allara's appointments are included as part of your monthly subscription.

How much does Allara Health and Midi Health cost out of pocket
Midi Health didn't accept my in insurance so I had to pay $250 out of pocket for my initial 30- minute consultation. My follow up appointment was $125, again out of pocket, at least for me. Your insurance will dictate how much you'll pay for consultations. You can get estimates from the support staff at Midi Health.
Midi provided prescriptions good for 90 days of medications. Each time I picked up meds, my cost with my prescription insurance was about $95 per quarter, or about $32 per month, not including the cost of consultations. I was prescribed the Estradiol Patch, Progesterone Tablets and Estradiol Inserts all for menopause hormone therapy.

Allara offers a monthly subscription plan to ensure consistent and on-going care. You can not use your insurance for the subscription plan costs, you will pay for this out of pocket or using your HSA credit card.

If you choose Allara for Menopause Hormone Replacement Therapy care, your prescriptions for that diagnosis specifically, would be similar to what I paid when I was a patient of Midi Health and picked medications at my local pharmacy.
Trusted online Hormone Replacement Therapy Providers
MyMenopauseRx is the most similar to Midi Health, but they are less money for consultations if you don't have insurance or like me, they didn't accept mine. They charge $99 for initial 20 minute consultation and then $49 for message/chat visits for follow up care or refills. The cost of medications will be the same, as you'll pick those up at your local pharmacy.
My current menopause HRT is provided by a provider called Inner Balance. They offer one product that replaced the three prescriptions I was on before. It's applied one time per day and includes Estradiol and Progesterone. No more juggling multiple prescriptions on different days of the week. My sleep has greatly improved. I fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. Here is link to their page on my Hormone Therapy Hub Website.

Midi Health vs. Allara Health
Midi Health would be a good fit for you, if you are in mid-life dealing with Perimenopause or Menopause. However, if you find they don't take your medical insurance, check out MyMenopauseRx as they have discounted self-pay options.
If you are dealing with something other than mid-life issues, like infertility, PCOS or anything that hasn't been brought on by mid-life, then Allara Health would be a good option for you.
