Weight Watchers now offers Hormone Replacement Therapy for menopause.

Weight Watchers has joined the HRT bandwagon. Let's dive in and explore their program, the expected costs, the medications they prescribe and how they compare to other online HRT providers.

How does the WW Menopause Hormone Therapy Work?

The Weight Watchers Clinic for Menopause Plan is a subscription based plan with a 12 month commitment. The cost of Hormone Replacement Therapy medications are included in the plan. Should you also want to explore medical weight loss medications, those are not included in any of the Weight Watchers plans.

Weight Watchers also offers a holistic approach for menopause which excludes hormones.

What does Weight Watchers for Menopause Plan Cost?

The Clinic plan for Hormone Replacement is $65 for the first month. They also indicate that on month two the price goes up to $90 per month. When you join the WW Clinic subscription plan you are signing up for a 12 month commitment. You can cancel at any time, but you have to fulfill your entire 12 months of payments. This plan auto renews at the end of 12 months.

Based on the information I sourced, it sounds like pretty much any HRT product they would prescribe would be included in the monthly cost and would be shipped directly to your home.

They also offer a holistic plan at $25 per month. Personally, I tried vitamins and supplements to help with menopause symptoms. They didn't work at all, at least for me. Be sure to inquire on what types of supplements they are offering, chances are you can get many or most of them off Amazon.

What kinds of perimenopause/menopause hormone therapy does Weight Watchers offer?

They offer many forms of MHT (menopause hormone therapy) to ensure they can find one that is right for you. This includes estradiol tablets that are taken orally as well as estradiol patches, gel, and spray that are applied to the skin. They also offer oral progesterone tablets and combination tablets that contain both estradiol and progesterone.

For localized therapy, WW offers vaginal estradiol creams and tablets. Your Weight Watcher's provider will be able to explain the differences between these offerings and recommend the appropriate treatment plan for your symptoms.

Most menopause women will need one estradiol product and one progesterone product. Your WW specialist can help you determine which formulation would be best for you and your lifestyle.

If you also want to inquire about medical weight loss options, they can prescribe Wegovy or Ozempic and it will be up to your insurance as to what you out of pocket cost will be.

Is Weight Watchers better than other online HRT providers?

Here is where things get interesting. At $90 per month for access to HRT specialists and all your medications, this is a pretty competitive price. But, you are signing up for 12-months. If you find after a few months, what they are prescribing isn't working, you are stuck until you've paid all 12 months. There isn’t any return policy if you aren’t satisfied.

As a matter of reference, Winona also offers Bioidentical HRT. If you are subscribed their topical estradiol/progesterone cream, the cost as noted on their website is $89 per month. The only commitment is that you are purchasing 3-months of medications at one time. For some women, the topical cream doesn't absorb enough to get the wanted benefits so it's good to understand that Winona also offers Estradiol patches and progesterone pills if you find you need or want to try a different formulation after the first three months.

Winona doesn't charge to create an account. Once you have an account they'll give you access to their HIPAA compliant patient portal and you'll begin to communicate with your assigned specialist. No one-on-one zoom or telehealth appointment required.

Another provider that I really like and what I'm currently using is Oestra cream by Inner Balance. It's a combo Estradiol and Progesterone cream that is applied vaginally.

I've tried six different companies and lots of formulations over the past two years. I started with a topical cream and saw very little results. I then switched to the patch and pills and actually felt pretty good, but my sleep still wasn't where I wanted it. When I found Oestra, I was intrigued by their statements around how it seems to impact sleep in a positive way.

Oestra is also a subscription based service. You are committing to three months at a time. The first six months are $199 per month and then on month seven, your price decreases to $99 and stays there forever. It's a bit more initially, but for me, the benefits of better sleep that I'm seeing have made it worth every penny to me.

Weight Watchers Clinic for Menopause - Review

The Hormone Replacement Therapy options and formulations that you are getting if you join the Weight Watchers Perimenopause or WW Menopause Program are very standard. You can get them from any HRT provider or online telehealth company. What I'm not crazy about in the case of WW, is the 12 month commitment.

If what they offer to you isn't working and you want to try something that is new and maybe a bit different, if they don't offer it, then you are stuck paying the $90 per month until you are at the end of your commitment period. Many of the others only ask for a 3-month commitment which for me, is easier to digest.

Welcome

I am an HRT patient reviewer of online platforms. I've become a patient & paid out of pocket (sometimes with & sometimes without insurance) for every HRT product I've tried and review. These reviews are my honest experience as I continue to navigate menopause, just like you!
